Copy-of-RAS-logo_250wThe Royal African Society is a membership society, open to all. We exist to promote a better understanding of Africa in the United Kingdom through our publications, websites, annual film and literature festivals and regular meetings and debates. We promote African business and development through our business programme for corporate members; most of our events, including substantial parts of our festival programmes, are free and open to members of the general public.

We provide intelligent and independent analysis of African politics from leading experts through our book series, African Arguments and the online publication, African Arguments Online. We list and promote Africa-related events through our website, Gateway for Africa, and we publish African Affairs, the leading academic journal on Africa.

Our membership includes individuals and organisations from all over the globe, including Africans in the UK and on the continent – all our members benefit from our special offers, advance information and access to a network of like-minded individuals committed to Africa and its development.
