The Royal African Society (RAS) is an inclusive pan-African membership charity based in London that aims to facilitate equitable relations and mutual understanding between the UK and Africa. Founded more than 100 years ago, it works in the fields of academia and education, business, policy and politics, and arts and culture. Through our events, publications and digital channels we share insight and instigate debate, reaching a network of more than one million people globally.
London is often referred to as the “African city outside of Africa” because it is a centre for African discourse and debate with a large and active African diaspora. Uniquely placed to offer an independent platform to discuss the key challenges and successes of the continent, the RAS engages the most vibrant network of individuals and organisations committed to Africa’s advancement.
